Saskatoon Community Foundation’s Carm Michalenko Charts a Course for Future Philanthropy

Saskatoon, December 8, 2020—2020 marks the Saskatoon Community Foundation’s 50th anniversary, with a refreshed brand and the launch of a significant multi-year marketing campaign, promoting awareness of who the foundation is, and what it does. This first-ever awareness campaign was made possible thanks to the gift of a philanthropist who recognized the foundation’s great potential and stepped forward to finance the initiative fully.

Centred on philanthropic goals that are unique to every person, the brand and campaign message speak to prospective donors who have a desire to shape and give back to the community where they live. The giving experience with the Saskatoon Community Foundation differs from other charitable options, because a donor can support multiple organizations, choosing one or many that are personally meaningful.

“It’s about your story as an individual. We say ‘your story never ends’ to express the personal legacy you create that lasts forever.

“Working with the foundation, you can build a legacy gift to reflect the life you lived, your family, and your values. Whether it is families, individuals, or businesses, many of us desire to leave a positive impact on our community,” said Saskatoon Community Foundation CEO Carm Michalenko.

The opportunity to create an enduring legacy that benefits the community forever is what the Saskatoon Community Foundation offers. Founded 50 years ago by a visionary group of people who saw inequity in society, the foundation’s business model includes endowed funds which generate grants in perpetuity to local charities, as well as non-endowed funds for immediate granting.

“We are optimistic about the future of philanthropy in our community as we embark on our new awareness campaign, with the continued leadership of Carm Michalenko.

“Our board is very confident in appointing Carm as Chief Executive Officer for a second term,” said Curtis Kimpton, Saskatoon Community Foundation board chair. “With a combination of stability and expertise, the foundation will continue to have a strong impact on our community.”
