Carm Michalenko Appointed Executive Director of Saskatoon Community Foundation

Greg Keller, Chair of the Saskatoon Community Foundation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Carm Michalenko, formerly Community Relations Manager for Affinity Credit Union, as the new Executive Director of SCF.

“Carm’s experience in community investment and across all sectors of our community will help us achieve the SCF’s vision of making Saskatoon the best community in which to live,” said Keller. “The Foundation has grown rapidly in recent years and we believe Carm is the right person to serve the needs of both donors and charities in Saskatoon in the years to come.”

Michalenko, who follows Trevor Forrest as Executive Director of the SCF, has worked in the public, private and cooperative sectors for over 25 years in a variety of senior marketing roles, including the last 18 years at Affinity. She has been involved in organizations as diverse as READ Saskatoon, Business and Professional Women’s Club Saskatoon (BPW), AIESEC, and the 2010 World Junior Hockey Championship and served on many boards and committees. She has a special passion for literacy and supporting youth.

“My passion has been fueled over the past decade in serving the nonprofit sector as a volunteer leader where I have advocated to improving the economic and social status of those disadvantaged,” said Michalenko. “I am following my heart and am thrilled to be joining the non-profit sector and to be part of such a valuable community-based organization. I’m excited to be working with talented volunteer board members, committed staff and generous donors so we can collectively impact the quality of life for all citizens in Saskatoon.” The SCF has over $65 million in assets and over 300 endowed funds provided by donors committed to creating a long-term resource to support our community. Over its 45 years of service to our community, the Saskatoon Community Foundation has accepted gifts from thousands of donors and made total grants in excess of $20 million. Because the Saskatoon Community Foundation invests donor gifts and grants the income generated by endowed funds received, these gifts will continue to have a positive impact for Saskatoon, forever!
