The Saskatoon & Region Home Builders’ Association is committed to supporting careers, training and development in the residential construction industry and the Saskatoon Community Foundation ensures the sustainability of the Association’s education and scholarship programs,” according to Alan Thomarat, former Executive Director of the Saskatoon & Region Home Builders’ Association, Inc.
Funds raised by the membership through projects and events will be invested through the Saskatoon Community Foundation into this new endowment fund with earnings being dedicated to scholarships in support of current trades people and new entrants to the residential construction industry.
Studies show the need to support trades training not only to alleviate the current labour shortage, but also for the future, to ensure a stable supply of skilled trades people that will meet our needs as a growing economy. These supports will be used to encourage young people to consider entering the residential construction trades and provide financial assistance for them to do so.
