Gary Gelinas
Gary is the Branch Manager ScotiaMcLeod for Saskatchewan. Prior to moving from British Columbia, Gary held the role of Director of Wealth Management for another Financial Institution. He was responsible for leading and growing the organization’s entire wealth business consisting of wealth advisors, life insurance specialist, and a wealth planning team. His 30 plus years of experience spans roles in wealth advisory, private equity, coaching, leadership positions, and entrepreneurial pursuits. Having enjoyed significant involvement in sport from a personal and business standpoint at various points in his career, Gary has developed a deep appreciation for the value of building teams and coaching with a collaborative approach.
Gary and his wife Sherre have family roots in Saskatchewan. Gary’s father grew up in Regina, where he played junior hockey and football and his wife’s family is from the Prince Albert area. The Saskatoon Blades hold a special place for Gary. His father had a hockey connection with Jackie McLeod and was involved with the Saskatoon Blades as a scout in the 70’s. He has fond memories working in the old arena for many training camps during the 1970’s and credits that time as part of developing his passion for teams and leadership.
Being involved in the community and giving back have been foundational to both their professional careers and family values. Gary’s wife has been involved in various leadership roles in non-profit sector in Canada and the USA and Gary currently sits on the Saskatoon Hilltops Board, is involved with the Knights of Columbus, has sat on numerous boards, and has worked with non-profits over his career.
Gary holds various investment industry designations and an MBA in Leadership and Management.
