Nowell Seaman
Nowell Seaman is a risk management leader with deep roots in Saskatoon, and a distinguished record of professional achievement, strategic leadership and community engagement. He has more than 30 years of experience leading enterprise risk and operational resilience, corporate insurance, business continuity and crisis management for major organizations across North America and globally. He is a Fellow, Chartered Insurance Professional (FCIP), a RIMS-Certified Risk Management Professional (RIMS-CRMP) and holds a Canadian Risk Management (CRM) diploma.
In his career, Nowell has served as Director, Global Risk Management for Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan, Inc., Director, Insurance and Risk Management for Nutrien Ltd., Manager, Risk Management and Insurance Services for University of Saskatchewan and, more recently, Manager, Insurance and Risk for Federated Co-operatives Limited.
Nowell has been actively involved with RIMS, The Risk Management Society for over two decades, holding leadership roles at chapter, national and international levels. He served as global President of RIMS in 2017, after serving in executive positions including Vice President, Chair of the Canadian Risk Management Council, and a long-time board director.
He continues to mentor emerging risk professionals and support education through thought leadership, development of course content, and instructing RIMS-CRMP certification preparation. He chaired a group that founded the McGannon Foundation, a charitable, non-profit corporation to fund grants and scholarships for risk management post-secondary education and research in Canada. Nowell is a recipient of the Donald M. Stuart Award for outstanding contribution to the risk management profession in Canada.
Nowell and his wife, Sandra Blevins, have five children and three grandchildren, all living in Saskatoon. Nowell is excited to join the Saskatoon Community Foundation Board of Directors, and looking forward to helping to strengthen community impact, philanthropy and resilience in Saskatoon and the surrounding region.
