Archie Cook’s family decided to follow his lifelong example of contributing to the community, after his death in 1996. They were drawn to the Saskatoon Community Foundation because of the lasting legacy it creates, benefiting countless people in the future.
Just before the turn of the 20th century, the Sandul family emigrated to Tuffnell, Sask. From Ukraine. Nearly 30 years later, the Cooks arrived in Saskatchewan from Scotland and settled near Radisson for the adventure opportunity, and better life it offered. Betty Sandul and Archie Cook met in Fort Qu’Appelle in the early 1960s while Archie supervised a crew for SaskPower and Betty worked at Fort San. The Cook family settled in Saskatoon in 1975.
Both Archie and Betty were interested in giving to charity and helping others, and passed this value on to their children, James and Donald.
Through the creation of the Betty and Archie Cook (Sandul) Family Fund, the family wishes to strengthen the quality of life that they enjoyed in the community.
