The Gordie Howe Fund in support of Students of King George Community School was created in 2017. The annual grant allowance goes to King George Community School to enhance curricular and co-curricular educational school experiences.
King George School was built in 1912 and is a hub for educational, social, recreational, and cultural activities.
In March 2020, the provincial government committed to fund a new, centrally located school to serve King George, Pleasant Hill, and Princess Alexandra school communities. The target opening date is September 2025. The annual grant will then be redirected to the new school.
