The Saskatoon Foundation has been chosen by Mickey (Kostiuk) MacLellan to own and administer a scholarship fund established from the estate of her late husband Douglas Maclellan in memory of his parents, John and Alice MacLellan. The fund will provide a scholarship annually to a graduating (Grade 12) student of Memorial High School, Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia.
Douglas Maclellan was born in Sydney Mines, and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force at 17 years of age. He served as a rear air gunner. He worked in Sydney Mines for several years before moving to Saskatoon. He was an entrepreneur in our community until the time of his death. He was a staunch supporter of the handicapped and the underprivileged.
The Saskatoon Foundation is grateful for the opportunity to participate in the administration of a fund that will support the youth of this country.
