How you can help evacuees from the northern wildfires

As wildfires continue to impact northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba, thousands of families have been forced from their homes. Over 3,000 people have arrived in Saskatoon seeking safety, and our community is stepping up.

These local organizations are actively supporting wildfire evacuees. Here’s how you can contribute ⬇️

1. Saskatoon Community Foundation
How to donate: Emergency Response Fund

How they are helping: Transportation and activities to support the mental health, wellbeing, and belonging of those displaced.

2. United Way Saskatoon

How they are helping: Providing activities for evacuees (tickets to community events like Saskatoon Berries baseball and Rattlers basketball games, Movie outings, Interactive learning and play at Wonderhub, Visits to the Saskatoon Zoo for nature and exploration, Rides and recreation at Kinsmen Park. Transportation to ensure equitable access for all. Support the Investment in Fire Safety and Emergency Preparedness for First Nation Communities in Saskatchewan.

3. Metis Nation of Saskatchewan – CUMFI Metis Local
How to donate:

Drop-off hours: 10 AM – 4 PM over the weekend

How they are helping: 

  • Organizing a donation drive to meet the urgent need for New or gently used strollers, wagons, and wheelchairs and Monetary donations to help purchase these items
  • Collecting new or gentle used and washed summer clothing (adults and children), Shoes, Swimsuits, New and used toys (easy to clean), New colouring books, crayons, pencil crayons. These items will be taken to the hotels and evacuation centres for distribution.

*Advantage Collision in Saskatoon is collecting items to donate to CUMFI

4. April ChiefCalf – MLA for Saskatoon Westview =

How to donate: Visit the Saskatoon Westview MLA office at 304-1114 22nd Street West

What they are collecting: Collecting donations of essential items (toiletries, baby items, clothing, snacks and games and activities for children)

5. City of Saskatoon Emergency Management Organization (EMO)

How to donate: Email emo.eoc@saskatoon.ca to make a donation.


How they are helping: Offering shelter coordination, updates, and centralized services and collecting donations of essential items.

6. Canadian Red Cross

How they are helping: Donations to the Canadian Red Cross will be used for assisting those impacted by the wildfires in Saskatchewan with immediate and ongoing relief including financial assistance, support to evacuees and the communities hosting them and recovery and resilience efforts in response to the wildfires.

*On Saturday, June 7, Wanuskewin is donation proceeds from the Broadway Spring Fling to donate to the Red Cross

7. Saskatoon SPCA

How they are helping: Free pet food and supplies for evacuees, Short-term shelter for dogs, cats, and small animals, Info and support to help pet owners through this tough time. Every dollar goes straight to food, shelter, and care for pets affected by the fires.

8. Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre

What they are collecting: Currently accepting monetary donations and non-perishable food.

We are reaching out to local and regional businesses with an urgent request for monetary donations. Your support will help us provide essentials such as food, clothing, hygiene supplies, and emergency services for displaced individuals and families.

How to donate: If you have items to give, please drop them off at the shelter — every donation helps us care for more pets in need.
