Saskatoon Community Foundation partners with youth between the ages of 13 and 25 who participate on our Youth Advisory Council.
The program teaches youth about philanthropy in their community and offers the chance to learn more about charities in Saskatoon.
By volunteering one or two hours per week, Youth Advisory Council (YAC) members:
- Learn more about charitable giving
- Visit local charities
- Create grant application forms
- Manage donation requests
- Plan and host a grant ceremony
Not only does participating on a Youth Advisory Council enable students to develop leadership skills, they also gain valuable experience with their peers working through a charitable granting process, event planning, coordinating social media, and networking.
The Saskatoon Community Foundation Youth Advisory Council is ideal for students who are interested in giving back to their community, want to gain valuable experience in the not-for-profit sector, or are pursuing scholarships and would like to distinguish themselves as an applicant.
To date, the Youth Advisory Council has directed 15 round of grants for Youth Endowment Saskatoon Grants (YES).
Applications to the Youth Endowment Saskatoon Grant must have a primary focus on children and youth participants. Applications outside of the current year’s focus area will be accepted and considered. To apply for the Youth Endowment Saskatoon Grant, visit the Youth Endowment Saskatoon grant page.
