Foundation Selects SEI Investments as Investment Manager

After an extensive review, SEI Investments was selected as the new investment management services provider by Saskatoon Community Foundation.

Saskatoon Community Foundation’s Board of Directors and Investment Committee announced on September 20, 2021 the decision to adopt a new investment management model known as an Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO). Following an extensive review, we selected SEI Investments Canada Co. as OCIO service provider with CIBC Mellon as the external custodian.

SEI Investments Company, formerly Simulated Environments Inc, is a financial services company headquartered in Oaks, Pennsylvania, United States with offices in Toronto and Vancouver.

The foundation’s investment model review considered the foundation’s sizable portfolio growth and the acquisition of our existing service provider, Greystone Managed Investments Inc., by TD Asset Management (TDAM) in 2018. With these factors in mind, the review looked at investment management options and costs.

A dedicated working group of the Investment Committee determined that an OCIO model provides additional consulting services and access to multiple investment managers, both of which are not available through TDAM, with little or no cost increase.

SEI was selected as the best fit for the foundation, offering value, responsiveness, the ability to make proactive recommendations, and deep experience with the OCIO model.

Director of Finance Sameer Chhetry, with support from the Investment Committee and Board of Directors, will oversee the transition to SEI and CIBC Mellon over the next several weeks.

Fundholders have received an invitation to attend a virtual meet and greet on October 14th for an opportunity to meet the SEI team by Zoom video or by phone.
